Population
The population of Brunei Darussalam in 1996 is estimated to be about 305,100 with the males just about 17,900 more than the females and about 70% are 30 years old and younger.
The Malays are the dominant race with about 69% of the population and followed by the Chinese 15%. Districtwise, the Brunei-Muara District is the most populous with about 66 percent of the total population, followed by the Belait District with 20 percent, the Tutong District with 11percent and the Temburong District with 3 percent. The capital city, Bandar Seri Begawan has a population density of about 3,528 persons per square kilometres.
